For me, architecture, although it is a very large term, can be defined as the art and science of designing buildings.
It is art because it needs imagination, creativity and a certain technic to make a totally new building. Architects often have a certain way of designing buildings that makes them different from others, just as artists have their own way of doing paints or sculptures; this is why we can difference a Dalí from a Picasso or a Frank Geri´s bulding from a Gaudi´s.
It is science because you also need certain knowledge to make a building strong and possible to mantain for itself, such as mathematics, physics, geometry etc.
The most difficult part of doing architecture is creating a space that has to be vissualy beautifful and at the same time usefull for the people that are going to use it. In other words, this constructions need to have an especific function, they are not just to be admired.
